I Couldn't Say it Better Myself

I do know that I'm biased but Sawyer's cute factor raises by the second. His Auntie Danika said it best..."How is it possible to get cuter when you start at the maximum cuteness? I don't know but he does everyday!"

This Stinks

It's always scary getting a phone call at 5 am...this was our phone call this morning. Willie was on his way to work when a truck had a blow out and caused a 4 car pile up on the freeway. His trusty little Honda is no more...totalled. Not sure why, but only the passenger airbag deployed. The back seat was pushed forward because of the force of his tools in the trunk, which went flying everywhere. Through it all though, there's also a blessing...

and here he is. alive and well. only by the grace of God.

Thankfully he was the 4th car and not sandwiched in by anyone else behind him but 2 people were taken by ambulance to the hospital. They were going to be ok though and Willie and 2 others walked away with only sore bodies.
I'm thankful I still have a husband and Sawyer has a daddy. We love him.

Sawyer's Photo Shoot

Jennifer came over on Friday to take pictures of Sawyer. He turned out to be not so tired so we took a lunch break and did a photo shoot of Giacomo, then came back to Sawyer when he was a little more "pliable." We ended up getting a few really cute ones...

Quite the Little Ham

So Jennifer and I were trying to do a photo shoot of Sawyer, who was not looking even slightly tired, so we decided to take a break from baby posing and see how Giacomo fared. It turns out he LOVES the camera and all the attention. He literally just laid wherever we put him and posed for each picture. We still adore Giac and he still gets plenty of love!

50th Percentile Baby

Sawyer went for his 2 week checkup just 8 days after his first visit to the doctor when he was in the 10th percentile. He had gained 1 lb, 2 oz since then and moved up into the 50th percentile! Oh, he also sharted all over the table and Willie's shoe...the nurse said that was a first for her. Willie was changing Sawyer's diaper and all of a sudden he had this projectile poo. I thought it was kind of funny until he did it to me later that day at home and peed the opposite direction at the same time! Such a boy but he's tons of fun and looking cuter and cuter everyday!

First Trip to the Pediatrician

Sawyer's first Doctor's appointment was on Tuesday, 4 days after he was born. He's only in the 10th percentile (that's small) for his weight and height but he was almost back to his birth weight already so the doctor said by next time he'll probably be in a higher percentile. He gets to go back on Wednesday so we'll see!

What a Great Daddy!

Willie amazes me. He is such a good daddy and loves to hold and take care of Sawyer...he's even more than happy to change poopy diapers! Giacomo has really taken a liking to Sawyer as well. He follows us wherever Sawyer goes and loves to cuddle up next to him and kiss his toes. I love seeing my 3 boys together...they are too cute!

Such a Good Baby!

Sawyer has been home for almost a week now and he is so wonderful! We love watching all his funny expressions and occasionally he slips a smile in there! He spends his days sleeping, eating (a lot), and pooping (A LOT). And of course...getting cuddled and doted over by everyone! He's a pretty good night sleeper which I'm so thankful for...I get up about every 2 hours to feed, change, and swaddle him up again, then he goes right back to sleep. Not a lot of crying or fussing and so far in the mornings I've felt pretty refreshed. For a little guy, he sure is a big blessing!!

Here's the full story if you're interested...

I woke up at 7:00 on Friday the 10th with my lower back and abdomen sort of aching. I didn't think too much of it since the pain was bearable and Sawyer wasn't due for 16 more days. I was supposed to go to tea with my mom, our family friend Kyle, and my sister up in San Juan Capistrano that day. My mom and Kyle were going to pick me up at 10:00 so I started getting ready for that.

At about 9:15 I started having sharp pains in my abdomen but noticed that they didn't last long. I still didn't think too much of it since I knew Braxton Hicks contractions were common and I was still so early to be having the baby. The doctor had said to go to the hospital when the contractions lasted a minute and came every 5 minutes for an hour. These were only 30 seconds or so long and they were coming about every 5 minutes, and the pain was, for the most part, tolerable.

My mom and Kyle arrived at 10:00 to pick me up but I decided that just in case, I didn't want to be 45 minutes away from home or stuck in a car with these uncomfortable pains. They decided to go without me and meet my sister up there as long as I called often and kept them updated.

At 10:30 I called Willie and told him what was going on but that he didn't need to leave work because it was probably just false labor. At 11:30 I called the doctor and told them this had been going on for over 2 hours but they were still only 30 seconds apart and the pain was bearable. They wanted me to come in to see if I was dilated so I left and drove myself to the doctor's office (which was luckily right next to the hospital). On the short drive there I had 3 contractions that felt much more painful and longer than all the rest, and when the nurse checked I was already dilated to 5 cm! For those of you who don't know, when you get to 10 the baby is ready to come out!

The nurse put me in a wheelchair and pushed me across the parking lot to the hospital as I called Willie (who was 30 minutes away) to come straight to the hospital. I called my mom and sister and my mom asked if they had time to eat their lunch since they had just ordered. I turned around and asked the nurse who was pushing me and she simply replied, "No, they don't." I'm somewhat in shock at this point but really in a lot of pain with each contraction now.

So into the hospital I roll by myself at 12:30 but met shortly after that by Jennifer, her mom, and Anna. Willie got there at about 1:00 and my mom adn sister shortly after that. Unfortunately, the doctor and the anesthesiologist were busy doing a C-section so I couldn't get an epidural yet but was assured that as soon as they were finished they would come give it to me. I REALLY wanted it...let's just leave it at that. The doctor finally came at about 1:45 and I was already at 10 cm so the epidural was out of the question and it was time to push. 15 minutes later we met our little bundle of joy...it had been only an hour and a half after I arrived at the hospital!
