My Birfday

So...my birthday was on April 23rd, which fell on a Friday this year so I got a whole weekend to celebrate! It was awesome and I loved it.

On Friday, the kids surprised me and each brought in a flower, which my room mom then combined into several beautiful bouquets. The class also surprised me with a gift card to go to P.F. Chang's with Willie. Yum yum...can't wait!

Then I had the kids guess how old I was (see below). I won't name names, but I especially like the 1200...he was serious. We are now working on estimation in class.

Then, that night, we had some family and friends over for homemade waffles with real whipped cream from the handy magic bullet, and lots of toppings! Let me just say...delicious!!!! Willie kept telling me to open my present so we could partake, which turned out to be DJ Hero. It's just like Guitar Hero but with a record that you spin and scratch, etc. The music is good and it's actually really fun. I think that means a lot coming from a non-gamer :)

Then, on Saturday we had a murder mystery party...it was hilarious. It's this kit that my mom found at the Goodwill for $2.99--there are 8 characters and a booklet of info about each one that we use to unravel the mystery. We had 2 people bail at the last minute so Willie's mom, Ciria, saved the day! She didn't mind playing a boy part and came as "Arby." It made me so happy to see her in full costume and she did awesome. I must say, I was a little worried about Willie because he said he didn't really want a part but we were short on people...so he was "Corey," America's most eligible bachelor, and he was so funny!!! We had myself, mom, dad, uncle Bob, Sonia, Danika, Ciria, and Willie--turns out we all had some hand in the mystery but Danika ended up being the murderer. I think everyone thought it was more fun than they had originally thought it would be :)

And finally, on Sunday, I got to go with my mom, dad, and Sawyer to OC for the annual model A pancake breakfast and car show, where I got to see my best friend from chilhood, Emily. Danika met us there (I got to see her 2 x in 1 weekend...I'm so lucky!) and we watched Emily's 2 girls and Sawyer play on the swings. After, Mom, Danika and I just hung out and went shopping while dad went to another car show, then back to her house for dinner.

It was a wonderful birthday!!! Can't wait to do it again!
